PUERTO AVENTURAS
XPU-HA KANTENAH
Puerto Aventuras was the first resort town built south of
cancun. Today is
it a very discreet, exclusive and beautiful tourist development and a favorite of people
who want to relax in comfort and tranquily.
The center of town is a marina, a lovely inlet
full of boats surrounded by restaurants, coffe shops, handicraft stores, bakeries and a
small bookstore. An island in front of the marina completes this stunning landscape.
Puerto Aventuras has both a well planned residential área and elegant
hotels along the beach. Despite the refined surrounding, the town has the informal
atmosphere of a small community, with friendly and warm people.

The cuisine in Puerto Aventuras is reknowned throughout the Riviera Maya.
Like Playa, there are many different dining options to choose from.
One of the most famous activities in Puerto Aventuras is the fishing
tournament which takes place in May. The recently inaugurated Cultural and Poly-religious
Center, the only one of its kind in the Riviera Maya, is another interesting feature of
this tourist destination.
PRINCIPAL ATTRACTIONS
Puerto Aventuras is mainly known for its marina, which is the only one to
be found along the Riviera Maya.
CEDAM, Shipwreck museum:
This museum features contents of the many shipwrecks which ocurred along
the coast, hazardous place for vessels because the reef made navigating difficult.
XPU-HA AND KANTENAH
Xpu-Ha is a large beautiful bay with a calm ocean and with superb
underwater visibility. The seven separate entrances which lead to this small community of
hotels, restaurants and dive shops are all dirt roads.
Towards the north is the Cenote Manatee, one of the largest in the region,
and Xpu-Ha lagoon where, it is said, the endangered species of manatees can still be
found. There are also two cenotes on the opposite side of the nighway.
Kantenah is another of the beautiful beaches along this stretch of the
Mexican Caribbean, full of palm trees and close to the coral reef.
